Elizabethan House
The Elizabethan House is a rare survivor of Plymouth history. In the late 1500s, Plymouth was a prosperous, bustling port, bursting at the seams with ships and crew, foreign privateers, merchants and craftsmen.
An increased need for housing saw the development of New Street for the people whose livelihoods were based around the waterfront. Look around the House at your leisure and chat to our staff and volunteers if you'd like more information. The audio-visual elements are set to ‘ambient’ mode, offering background sounds to enhance the props and scenes in each of the rooms

Information
Due to the historic nature of Elizabethan House we regret there is limited disabled access. The house is over 400 years old with a narrow spiral staircase, low door frames and ceilings and some uneven and sloping floors. There is limited seating available in some of the rooms.
